This page is a non-exhaustive list of both my ongoing story projects as well as the ones I'd love to eventually get around to when/if my current ones ever get done! I dream up little guys and worlds for them to inhabit faster than my pen can keep up... blessing or curse, you decide!
scales and all
Scales and All follows two young adults, Joshua Grace Lake and Abraham Rockwell, each trying to find their place in a world they feel alien in. The two's stories are seperated by time -- Abraham's takes place 20 years before Grace's -- but woven together with the same threads, which are gradually unraveled over the course of the comic.
SAA is a deeply, deeply personal and important story to me, and over the last few years it's been my biggest outlet for emotions and experiences I didn't know how to process otherwise. It's about a lot of things: how a religious upbringing and repression of desires can shape a person, peer pressure in many forms, coping with loneliness, the ocean as symbolism of the unknowable vastness of one's own identity, and remaining hopeful in the face of all that uncertainty. All the characters within it are based on either facets of myself or on people I know in real life, and they feel just as real. Two of its main characters, Dan and Grace, both came from a dream of mine in 2021 and they especially are more like my closest friends than they are characters in a book. SAA is currently on its... 8th? 10th?? rewrite; I've honestly lost count, its taken SO many forms over just a few years. My MC Grace has been a cryptozoologist on the run from the government, a medieval guard, an 80's new wave hipster, and now a transgender Washingtonian... I won't be doing any more major overhauls at this point now, or at least I'd like to think so! Bringing this story to life has been a long and difficult journey, and I know in many aspects it's still only just begun. But these last few years have shown me that it's worth it to me, and I'll continue down this road for as long as it takes! Inspirations!

slumbering mages
| In a distant future, humans have split off from Earth for new horizons. One group of settlers finds their way to Verdever, a fantastical world populated by anthropomorpic animals and run on magic. But the newcomers' presence acts as a sort of shock to the planet's "immune system", disrupting the flow of its magic... a ticking time-bomb that, generations later, leads to all-out apocalypse. The main plot centers around a trio of siblings (Iggy, Otto and Jacques) who are part of the first generation in Verdever fully removed from humans. The three of them go on a quest, rediscovering facets of their world that have been buried since before humans arrived... things that could change their way of life, for better or worse.Inspirations!

house of wolves
House of Wolves (temp name) is set in California in the early 2000's and follows Kit, an emotionally immature teenager with anger issues... who's just been bitten by a werewolf.
Over the course of the story he struggles with himself as his angry outbursts become more unavoidable and more dangerous, and he's finally forced to confront both the root cause of them and how they've hurt his loved ones in the past. He's also in a will-they-won't-they (b)romance with not only his lifelong best friend Larry, but also the schmoozy werewolf who (accidentally) turned him in the first place. It's wild! House of Wolves has been a nice side project for me to tinker with over the years, with a lot of my favorite themes and tropes and a nostalgic setting that'll be very fun to come up with little scenarios within. It's one of my less weighty and more self-indulgent stories, and it's a blast! I have no idea if I'll ever end up telling it in a concrete fashion, the characters might just stay as toys for me to play with in various ways forever... who knows! Inspirations!

earth-6198
I started developing this story in early 2023, inspired by artists who had taken the Spiderverse-spurred trend of making one's own spidersona a bit further, building whole worlds and filling out their own spidey's rouges gallery.
It was exciting and fun, a unique practice of "scrapbooking" different elements of all my favorite Spider-Man media as well as my other interests all into one unique but still fandom-based universe. I was extremely absorbed in developing Earth-6198 for a surprisingly long time (even ended up hyperfixated on it for a good part of a year), and the lore I amassed for it became pretty shocking in scale!
As I continued to work on it and attatch myself to the characters, they became less and less recognizable as Marvel characters, aside from their names and gimmicks. I put massive amounts of myself into my spidersona, taking my struggles with sexuality and identity and trying to untangle them by putting my Spidey into situations I was too shy & sheltered to end up in myself IRL. It helped me massively, and the plots I came up with relating to these things hold an important place in my heart. Of course, having put so much of myself -- extremely soft and vulnerable parts of me -- into a Marvel fan-world of all things, started feeling more and more cringe as my obsession faded a bit, and I shelved developing it to go back to projects I felt less embarrased to share with others. I do still care deeply about this story I'd built in private, though, and to me it would feel sad to move on from these thoughts while having left them unsaid... so I do have (albeit very tentative) plans to revisit it, to take apart the stories I built with Spidey 6198 and his buddies and rebuild them within an original world someday, when I'm less shy about expressing those more tender parts of me. I guess we'll see, a few years down the line! Inspirations!
