This is my webshrine to Cream Cats (formerly Cream Kitties), a niche closed species homed on Chickensmoothie. I was an active member in the community from Summer 2018 - Spring 2019, which doesn't seem so long now haha, but the memories are strong and warm, and they mean a lot to me!!

"What are Cream Kitties?
Cream Kitties are just like any normal cat, except for they're made of whipped cream! They are fairly about the size of a house cat, or Felis catus. Each Cream Kitty is roughly 9.5 inches tall, weighing in at about 10 lbs when full grown. Instead of a tail, there is a dollop of cream, in which design varies from Cream Kitty to Cream Kitty. Rarely, a Cream Kitty will not have a tail. Cream Kitties can have many traits, including glaze, marshmallows, a lollipop on their tail, candy cane horns, boba, and syrup. These traits help make each Cream Kitty unique in their own way!"

The main reason CKs had such an impact on me was that, in the midst a very wide variety of thriving closed species at the time, the group had such a comparitively low bar to entry. I wanted so badly to participate in a closed species, but I was young and very much a beginner to both digital art and writing, both of which it seemed you had to be more expert at to get noticed in those spaces.
Cream Kitties, appearing to me like an angel in the dark, was made up of artists on a similar level to me, and there were enough of us that the species had very consistent activity (compared to most other 'amatuer-level' species on CS which fizzled out very quickly).
I was accepted as an official artist after just one artist search entry, a pretty slapdash one at that... and it was so awesome. It felt great to be not only part of, but a foundational member of an active and positive community, even if only for a few months.

Cream Cats have come to represent to me the creative spirit that had such a strong hold on me at the time, making things just for the thrill of sharing them with others and not worrying about quality too much. Thinking back to that time reminds me to try and embody that energy nowadays!

In 2024, When I rejoined CS, I was delighted to find that despite having shut down and changed hands several times, Cream Cats was now under new ownership with plans to reopen again!
The thread was pretty quiet for a few months so I was hesitant to get too excited, but in May 2025 I decided, screw it, and made a couple of artist search entries! I am very happy I did and am extremely grateful to have secured an artist position!

I have so much love for CCs and I am looking forward to hopefully seeing / helping the community grow again! ♡
